According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, there were 15 fatal wrecks on the state’s highways since the Christmas holiday travel period began at 6 p.m. Friday. The 102-hour holiday travel period ended at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday
The only local death was that of 60-year old Roy C. McCary of Summerville who died in a single-vehicle wreck on Turkey Mountain Road in Armuchee on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, three traffic fatalities have been reported by the Paulding County Post of the Georgia State Patrol.
Fatalities also occurred in Blue Ridge, Monroe, Cherokee County, Athens, Forrest Park, Milledgeville, Gwinnett County, Richmond County, and Waycross.
