Sara Stephens Hefner, 86 of Millers Ferry Road, Calhoun, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Sara was born in Chattanooga, TN, on June 12, 1931, daughter of the late Ben and Lelia Fowler Stephens. She was a school cafeteria worker most of her adult life, having been employed by Valley Point School, Calhoun High School, and retiring from W.L. Swain Elementary. She was of the Christian faith and a Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis Clements in 1963, and Rudolph Hefner in 2009; sisters, Louise Mashburn, Barbara Borntrager, and Viola Stephens; and brothers, James, Joe and Floyd Stephens.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (Ken) Dixon and Sharon (Johnny) Elliott; sons, Mike (Jolene) Clements, Steve (Tina) Clements and John (Tina) Hefner; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Sara Stephens Hefner will be held Tuesday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev(s) Terry Timms and Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Resaca. Music will be arranged by Gary Hemstreet. Pallbearers serving include, Greg Saunders, Justin Clements, Robert Shook, Nick Shook, Timothy Mullins and Thad Hefner. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Thompson, Wayne Robinson, Joe Thompson, Shannon Matthews, Johnny Elliott, Ken Dixon, Jay Fulton, Jessie Long, Martin Borntrager, Darin Borntrager, Avery Borntrager, Shane Kilgore, Sonny Burnett, Brian Malone, Charles Bennett, Jeremy Thompson, and Justin Thompson.
