Shortly after 6:30 Friday morning Centre Police and Firefighters, Cherokee County Rescue Squad and Cherokee EMS responded to a single-vehicle accident on Main Street in Centre in which a Honda Civic crashed into a building directly across from the First United Methodist Church.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling eastbound, when it crossed over the lanes of traffic, jumped a curb ran through some brush then uprooted a small tree before finally barreling into the building, coming to rest on its side. The male driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Rescue Squad.
