Jamal Tyrone Harper, 29 of Rome, was jailed this week after police said he tried to hide from them behind a building.

Police said that after police attempted to talk to Harper he ran and dropped a book bag in the process.  Officers added that they used papers in the book back to find out where Harper was living.

Police went on to say that once at the home, Harper attempted to run from police again.  This time he was captured after a foot chase around several houses.

A search of Harper uncovered a glass pipe containing suspected cocaine residue.

Harper is charged with escape, possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related objects and obstruction of officers following.
