Jacob Ryan Wells, 37 of Rockmart , was arrested this week after he allegedly made physical contact with a 38 year-old woman during a domestic altercation.
Reports stated that Wells intended to cause bodily harm when he hit her in the back before choking her.
Police added that the victim suffered bruises in the shape of a handprint on the side of her neck.
A search of Wells uncovered a glass smoking device containing marijuana.
The incident occurred at a home on Lakspur Lane in Rome
Wells is charged with battery, possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.
