Sheriff Mitch Ralston Reports:
Yesterday morning (August 3), deputy sheriffs responded to a report of a suspicious person/vehicle at a convenience store on South Wall Street in (unincorporated) Calhoun. There, deputies located Jonathan Perez, age 17, of 113 South Louise Avenue, Calhoun. Perez was found to be in possession of drugs on his person and was taken into custody without incident. A search of his car revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine packaged and processed for resale, an assault rifle and ammunition, and US currency. The methamphetamine has a value of several thousand dollars. Perez has been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and related drug charges, as well as felony weapons offenses. He is housed in the county jail pending bond.
