Mr. Ricky Darrell Childers, age 61, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at a local hospital.
Mr. Childers was born in Rome, Georgia on March 19, 1956, son of the late Samuel “Sam” Childers and the late Lela Fincher Cannon. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carmen Childers, a grandson, Brayden Rhodes, two sisters, Celeste Ashley and Dale Camp, and by two brothers, Harry Childers and Randy Michael. Prior to retirement, Mr. Childers worked as an electrician with the Local #613. He loved golf, NASCAR and shooting pool. He loved the U.S.A. and was very patriotic.
Survivors include two daughters, Cassie Rhodes and her husband, CS2 Hank Rhodes, US Navy, Virginia Beach, VA, and Ashley Childers, Rome; four grandchildren, Lexie Studdard, Hunter Rhodes, Maddie Lake Rhodes and Owen Rhodes; four sisters, Joan Garrett (Bo), Rome, Reeca Dodd (Ron Roach), Rome, Cheryl Nichols (Chris Smith), Rome, and Donna Miller (Rickey), Rome; two brothers, Lamar Childers (Sarah), Rome, and Gary Childers (Sandra), Sand Rock, AL; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Pastor Drew Elrod will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 3pm until the service time.
