A White man, Zachary Glenn Harper, 28, and a Rome woman, Mary Rebecca McWhorter, 31, were arrested after taking a check from a 65 year-old woman that was written for $1 and change it to $40 before attempting to cash it.
Reports said that after McWhorter stole the check Harper attempted to cash the check at United Community Bank last Friday.
Both are charged with 4th degree forgery.
McWhorter is additionally charged with theft by taking.
