Edward Guy Paintin II, 44 of Rome, was arrested on Monday after he was found to be illegally in possession of a gun.

Reports said that Paintin was convicted of aggravated assault and violation of Georgia’s substance act back in 1996, and as such was not allowed to possess a firearm.

Police said that he was found with the gun back on June 12th of this year at a home on Elmwood Street.

He was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday after being taken into custody in Polk County.

Paintin II is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
