Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson announced on Friday that he is resigning the officer effective July 1.
Henderson cited health and personal reasons for the resignation. Henderson did say that during the transition process he will continue to aide the office until all of the prior cases during his tenure is closed out .
Deputy corner Gene Proctor will take over as coroner July 1.
Henderson was reelected last November.
