According to Floyd County Superior Court Chief Judge Tami Colston, a new accountability court is in the future for drug offenders that have been arrested.
The new court will offer rehabilitation instead of jail for those who are arrested on drug charges.
Colston said that the court will have a program in place that will teach offenders how to deal with their addition, as well as life.
The project will be covered by a first-year state grant of $149,000. Officials said that they have expectations of continued state funding as well.
The court could be operational July 1.
