A woman that said she was robbed of church money, Dequorria Minee Woodard, 33 of Rome, has been arrested for filing a false report.

Reports said that Woodard told police that a man came up from behind her armed with a knife and took $275 in cash from a church bake sale.

Reports added that Woodard came up with the story after she could not account for the money’s whereabouts.

Woodard is charged with false report of a crime.

Rome Police are investigating a claim that a woman was robbed at knife point on her way to church Sunday.

Reports said that the woman told police that she was walking to get breakfast at Bojangles on Martha Berry Boulevard and was approached by a man carrying a knife.

The woman told police that when she turned down McDonald Street from DeSoto Avenue the suspect came from behind her and placed a large knife the side of her neck and demanded that she give him all of her money.

It was then the woman said that she gave him $275 in church proceeds that she had from a bake sale.

The woman described the suspect as a black male, between 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 7 inches and weighting close to 200 pounds.  She described the man wearing black pants and a red or green hoodie. The suspect took nothing else from the purse, according to the woman.
