Deanna Elizabeth Fain, a former Rome-Floyd County building inspector manager, pleaded guilty to theft by conversion and theft by taking charges Monday.

Reports said that Fain was accused of taking over $25,000 between January 1, 2012 and February 28, 2014.

Authorities added that she took more than $121,000 in building inspection funds.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 27.

Officials said that an investigation was launched in early 2014 after complaints to the city about inconsistencies in the building inspection department.  After the complaints were turned over to the police and then later the GBI it was determined that the thefts had occurred.  Less than a month later she resigned from her job.

Investigators determined that Fain lied to them about accepting money former a former building inspector for her role in wrongfully approving permits for homes, along with creating false documents to replace originals.
