A woman charged in the death of her two-year-old son was sentenced in Bartow Superior Court Tuesday.  Bobbie Jessica Prather, 33, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and three counts of cruelty to children following the drowing death of her son in 2017.

She was sentenced to 20-years but will serve two years incarcerated and the remainder on probation.

She has been in jail since her arrest on May 29, 2017.  She will receive credit for time served.

Police said that Prather left the two-year-old and three other children unattended for 14 hours.

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Cartersville woman in connection with the drowning death of a three year old child.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators were called to a residence on Canter Lane in Cartersville at 1:33PM Monday when a three year old child was found in a pool unresponsive. The child was pronounced deceased after life saving attempts were unsuccessful. Just after 6:00PM, investigators placed the mother of the child, Bobbie Jessica Prather, 32, under arrest and transported her to the Bartow County Jail. Prather has been charged with Felony Murder and four counts
of Cruelty To Children in the first degree. Three other children in the home were taken into protective custody.
