The newly formed SPLOST committee for Rome, Cave Spring and Floyd County will be chaired by David Newby of Profile Extrusion.
This marks Newby’s second run as SPLOST chair after serving for the 2013 package.
The 2013 SPLOST runs through March 31, 2019.
Voters will go to the poll this November 7th to decide the fate of the penny tax.
The committee is expected to include six appointed by County Commissioners, four from Rome and one from Cave Spring.
Officials said that any Rome resident interested in serving should fill out a citizens board volunteer form at the city clerk’s office or contact a commissioner.
Ideas have already been floated around including fixing the sewer system in Cave Spring, renovations to Pepperell Middle School, covered tennis courts at the new Rome Tennis Center and a new indoor athletic facility for Rome High School.
