A new culinary experience is now being offered in Downtown Rome. The Georgia’s Rome Tourism Office is launching Flavor Tours that will feature many restaurants on Broad Street in a progressive-style meal format; and will be held on the second Saturday of each month. Tickets are now available for the first tours, set to take place on April 8, 2017 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Each tour lasts about two hours with stops at four locations around Broad Street. The Roman Chariot will transport participants to each location. Each restaurant will feature a specific dish corresponding to a meal course along the tour.
“One of the first things I fell in love with when I moved to Rome is the fact that we have so many great restaurants; the flavor tour will offer an immersive culinary experience,” said Nic Diaz, Marketing Assistant, “These tours will allow tourists and locals alike to enjoy our culinary scene to a fuller extent.”
The menu and restaurants featured in the tours will change monthly so that no two tours will be exactly alike. On these tours visitors and locals will have the opportunity to try things that they may not order otherwise. “There has already been a lot of excitement for these tours, said Diaz. “ We are already considering more tour options such as vegetarian, gluten-free and family-friendly tours.
This first tour does offer a craft beer tasting as part of the experience and is limited to adults 21 and over. Each tour has a maximum of 8 participants. Tickets for the tours will be $35 and include the price for all restaurants, transportation and gratuity.
The Flavor Tours are the newest addition to Georgia’s Rome public tour offerings, which include the Roman Holiday Riverboat tours and Downtown Walking tours. Tickets for the Georgia’s Rome Flavor Tours can be purchased from RomeGeorgia.org/flavortours or at the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center located at 402 Civic Center Drive.
