Dropped Cellphone Helps Rome Police Find Alleged Thief

Scotty Dewayne Phillips, 41 of Rome, was arrested after he was accused of entering into an automobile and stealing several items.

Reports stated that a witness saw the suspect run from the vehicle, and in the process dropping a book bag and a cell phone.   Police stated that after looking at the cell phone it was determined that the cellphone was also stolen and was traced back to Phillips.

The alleged crime occurred back on January 14^th at a home on Paris Drive.

Phillips is charged with entering an automobile with intent to commit a crime and failure to appear.
