The Rome K-Mart will soon be closing its doors for the final time.  Reports said that the store at 102 Hicks Drive is expected to close in August.  According to spokesman Howard Riefs the store will begin its liquidation sale on May 19.

Riefs said that the store currently has close to 100 employees.

He added that employees who are eligible for severance packages will be offered one, or offered an opportunity to transfer to another Kmart or Sears location.

The closure comes months after Sears Holding Company, K-Mart’s parent company, closed its Sears location in Mount Berry Square Mall.
