The Euharlee City Council has named James Stephens, a Cedartown native, to be its next city manager. Stephens will take over for Trish Sullivan who resigned last year.

The city had originally picked Aimee Abernathy, but the choice was negated in January after she was arrested and charged with two counts of felony theft by taking. Reports said that she allegedly took more than $22,000 while serving as the city manager in Waleska.

Stephens will begin work Monday.

He previously served as general manager of the Polk County Water Authority and finance director for the city of Cedartown.
