A fight that led to a shooting at the Rome Food Mart in Cave Spring landed three people on probation this week. Report said that Craig Jones, 36, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and received 12 years probation and a $1,000 fine. Joe Allen Jones, 53, also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 10 years probation and a $1,000 fine. Regina Jones, 52, pleaded guilty to battery, for which she received a year’s worth of probation and a $300 fine.

Charges against a fourth person, Ansley Taylor McGhee, were dropped.

Reports said that the fight broke out on November 8, 2014 when David McGhee and his girlfriend drove to the store for gas and a soda when Craig Jones, with Ansley Taylor McGhee as a passenger, pulled his truck alongside their vehicle.

An argument then began between and at some point Craig Jones attempted to hit David McGhee with his vehicle. It was then Jones fired a shot at the truck.

Jones got out of the truck and said Ansley McGhee was hit by a bullet. It was at that point Craig Jones’ brother and sister-in-law, Joe Jones and Regina Jones, arrived.

The Joneses then proceeded to hit David McGhee with a baseball bat before kicking him once he was on the ground.

At some point in the fight Joe Jones was also shot.
