Mount Berry Mall is set to lose an anchor store this March. Reports came out Tuesday that Sears and Sears Auto Center will close sometime mid-March. Howard Riefs, director of corporate communications for Sears Holdings, said that the store will begin its liquidation sale this Friday.

The store reportedly has 86 employees within its two departments.

Riefs said that those associates that are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.

“Store closures are part of a series of actions we’re taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business mode”, Riefs added.

Sears joins a list of stores who have left the mall.
