The new College and Career Academy in Cedartown is expected to be erected in the near future. Reports said that B&J Reed Construction has already began demolition of the previous structures, along with installation of storm drains and erosion control at the site.

Polk School District board members also approved an amendment to the College and Career Academy charter, allowing for the “school within a school” model to have no more than 2,500 students enrolled, up from the initial allowance of 1,500 students per school year.

Projections of student enrollment in the College and Career Academy and dual enrollment combined are set to reach 2,400 students by the 2019-2020 school year.

Once completed the total cost will be close to $1.3 million.
