I am absolutely shocked that Missouri President Tim Wolfe resigned this week amidst race controversy.   Now, I would get it if he had done something personally wrong, but the man was accused of ‘not doing enough to prevent it’.   The final nail in the coffin was when the football team said that they would sit out and not play until he removed himself from office. If this would have occurred last year, I can promise you that a Tiger team in the lead for the SEC East would not have made the same decision.

In my opinion, these student athletes were brought on to campus, and given a free ride, to play football. If they decided not to play because of whatever reason not their own, then I am sure the University could have easily found some kids in Missouri that would give their right arm for a chance to suit up on Saturdays.   When you allow a non-unionized force to ‘strike’, we open up Pandora’s Box for bigger trouble in the future.

I hated to hear about the passing of former Atlanta Brave pitcher Tommy Hanson. However, I figured something was up when a 29 year-old athlete just goes into organ failure. WSB’s Zach Klein later said that the death was caused by an apparent overdose. When things like that happen, it takes away the sadness and fills me with anger. There is NEVER an excuse to be on drugs. Our generation of young men better step up and learn to live with honor and dignity or the next generation will be screwed. It is time we stop idolizing the wrong people and call spades a spade. When men and woman make choices that do not factor other people’s feelings into account, I have no pity when things go bad.

I am still kinda shocked at hearing just how ‘bad’ the University of Georgia football team is this years. Do I think we are playing ‘Georgia football’? Of course not. Year after year watching the Dawgs put up 40 points a game it has been a little frustrating to see my team’s best asset for years turn into a laughing stock of the SEC. However, a perfect November and the team will finish with a 9-3 record and a pretty good New Years Day Bowl. A victory there and the team will finish with a 10 win season. The last time I checked ‘bad’ teams don’t win 10 games.

I am starting to think everyone had unrealistic expectations this season. Yes, the Dawgs had a ton of defensive stars come back for another season, but the offense had questions since January. A friend of mine once told me, if you have more than one quartback, you do not have a quarterback at all. Toss in the loss of Nick Chubb the in early October the team has been on survive mode.

Yes the losses are painful. Trust me, I sat through 4 hours of downpour watching Georgia get embarrassed against Bama.  Schotty was still trying to find his way. No excuse. The Tennessee loss is the one that should have went the other way. A sure touchdown was dropped by Aaron Davis that would have tied the game late in the fourth and the Tennessee defense was on their heels. There was no excuse that game was lost, and should, yes I know, shoulda, woulda, coulda, didn’t happen. A win there and the Dawgs are sitting pretty with 2 losses and would technically still be alive for the East. I don’t think it would have happened, but it would have been nice to go into the last SEC game with a shot.

Georgia has started at total of 14 freshmen this season. That’s crazy to think. One year ago, these kids were playing in high school stadiums in front of a thousand people. Now they are playing against guys that could be playing in the National Football League. Patience Bulldog Nation.

Last week I finished 7-3, bringing my record to 71 for 100. A 71 on the report card in school would get your grounded, but would win you some money in Vegas! On now to Potts’ Picks!
